ChriSKate AKA Lainly
The Mother of Hunters

You know how Daenerys from Game of Thrones is the Mother of Dragons? Lainly is kind of like that — just swap out dragons for hunters, and maybe toss in an unhealthy number of alts while you’re at it.

It all started at the end of Cataclysm, when a fresh-faced Lain rolled onto Quel’Thalas, blissfully unaware of things like interrupts, mechanics, or why certain mobs became completely immune the second a green turtle shell appeared. These were the golden days — where curiosity outpaced knowledge, and damage meters were more of a suggestion.
During Mists of Pandaria, Lain discovered this wild social concept called “being in a guild.” After a chance run-in with a helpful Scottish warlock in a heroic dungeon (actual difficulty: heroic), she was encouraged to check out his guild. Seemed legit. So she reached out.
The guild was called Reflection of Perfection — a name so gloriously over-the-top it practically screamed, “we take ourselves too seriously.” Lain raised an eyebrow, but went along with it. They invited her to a flex raid trial in Siege of Orgrimmar, where she proceeded to die spectacularly and repeatedly. At some point, one of the members whispered her with what was likely a mercy offer to stop. Her reply? A cheerful, “Oh — this was a trial? I’m not interested in raiding though”
Cue collective confusion. Turns out Lain just wanted a social spot. No mythic dreams, no DPS parse obsession — just vibes.

Time passed. Warlords of Draenor dragged on. And eventually, ROFP decided maybe Lain should be raiding, especially with a bit of encouragement (read: gentle bullying) from their bear tank officer Handir — tree-hugger, cow lover, and passionate raid-pusher.
Come Legion, and it was time for Emerald Nightmare. She got benched on Ursoc HC for “not enough damage” — a moment that stung (okay, maybe more than a little). But instead of giving up, Lain got to work.
Enters Nicola, the guild’s Italian hunter guru. Somehow, between his beach days and football games, he found time to send Lain voice notes walking her through how to not play like she was still in LFR. Spoiler: pressing every button at once and picking talents based on cool icons? Not the meta. He even started calling her “my little padawan.” — clearly Bm hunter learning is the equivalent to Jedi training.
Since then, Lainly has moved across realms, taken down countless mythic bosses, stepped up as a raid leader and guild officer, and changed guilds more than once along the way. She’s adventured through Azeroth probably more than she’s been outside her house — and somehow, it never gets old.

Now? You’ll find her as Lainly-TarrenMill, mythic raiding regularly, collecting Cutting Edge after Cutting Edge — and recently, earning her very first Hall of Fame.
Or, you know… making more hunters.
